My name is Deborah Zeman and this is my first year as the Librarian at Hebron HS. This is my 25th year in education and 9th year as a School Librarian. I grew up in Northport, NY, moving to Frisco, TX in 2002 with my husband and two sons. Before entering the world of education, I worked for ten years in the publishing world and then taught ELA at both middle and high school.
I am a member of the TLA Spirit of Texas Reading Committee, ALA CORE - SF Notables Reading Committee, and the 2024 Best Graphic Novels for Children List Committee. I am the incoming Publisher Liaison for TLA, the past Chair of the TxASL Talks Executive Board and was honored as TxASL Media and Visual Presence (MVP) Honoree for 2023, as well as a finalist for TCEA ‘22 Library Media Specialist of the Year. Last year I was awarded the 2024 TLA Branding Iron Award for School Reading Programs. I am a former member of the TxLA Tayshas Reading Committee, Cybils Award YA Reading List Committee for 2023, former Webmaster for TLA District 5, and a member of the Lewisville ISD Secondary Book Selection Committee and Library Leadership Team.
I was a member of the AASL Best Digital Tools for Teaching & Learning, Co-creator of The Wakelet Student Ambassador Program, and author of Buncee’s SEL Lesson Plans for High School. I am also a Wakelet Certified Trainer, a Google Certified Trainer, CanvaEDU Creator, BookCreator Champion, and BreakoutEDU Trainer with additional certifications in multiple edtech tools. I have presented at local, state, and national library and edtech conferences and conducted several professional training & PD workshops, including implementing iPads and laptops in a 1:1 environment.

This is my 12th year at Hebron HS. I have lived in Carrollton for 37 years; my father was in the Air Force and I grew up in Virginia, Spain, and Las Vegas, NV. My husband and I have 3 grown children, all Hebron alums. I have a small dog that is a Maltese/Pom/many little white dogs-mix named Stacy who is my Velcro dog.
I attended the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and worked for many years in the credit bureau industry, starting as a clerk and moving up to Training Supervisor, Quality Control Supervisor, and Customer Support Representative. I also tested software. I was a stay-at-home mom for most of my children’s growing-up years, and volunteered in their classrooms and schools. My favorite place to volunteer was at the library, so it was a natural move to become a library aide!
