Welcome to the Flower Mound High School Dual Credit Website
This website is designed to help students & parents understand and navigate the dual credit process.
Dual Credit is one example of advanced academic courses offered by Lewisville ISD to help students prepare for the challenge of college while still benefiting from the support of the high school environment. Dual Credit classes offer students the chance to take college-level classes, taught on the high school campus by college professors. When students successfully complete Dual Credit courses, they earn both high school credit and college credit for the corresponding college course from the partnering college/university.
FMHS partners with North Central Texas College (NCTC) to offer dual credit opportunities to our students.
The NCTC Dual Credit Program provides an opportunity for eligible sophomore, junior and senior high school students to enroll in college-level courses and earn both college credit and high school credit simultaneously.
College tuition - $55 per credit hour
Each dual credit course (ex. US HIS 1301) is worth 0.5 high school credit upon successful completion of the course (the student also has the potential to earn 3 college credit hours per course from NCTC unless otherwise stated)
Dual Credit grades are calculated in GPA and the multiplier for Dual Credit courses is 1.2
Exception: the Independent Study Math (paired with DC College Algebra 1314) is a 1.1 multiplier
Students need to meet college readiness requirements to take Dual Credit courses (see College Readiness Requirements below)
Students must APPLY to NCTC and be accepted to take Dual Credit courses
Students/Parents are responsible for all registration, tuition, fees and textbook costs
If enrolled in the Free/Reduced Lunch Program, you will not pay for tuition or books
Students may not take an online course if the same course is offered as an embedded course.
Deadlines are given to us by NCTC. Because these are college courses offered by a college campus, we cannot give extensions. PLEASE pay attention to due dates.
Students who take US History through Dual Credit are required to take the US History STAAR test
Sophomores are only eligible to take World History (HIST 2321 & HIST 2322). Both must be taken in order to receive a full high school credit. This class is NOT offered at FMHS, it will be taken online or at NCTC. **ALL sophomores MUST take the TSI in order to qualify for Dual Credit.**
FMHS will have TSIA2 testing on our campus on March 3 & 4th for Dual Credit eligibility.
DC Terminology:
Embedded courses- courses offered at the FMHS campus that students earn high school and college credit for. Ex: US His 1301/1302. Embedded courses do not have section numbers.
Non-embedded courses- courses are NOT on the FMHS campus. They are either online or at NCTC. You will find the section numbers in the NCTC Course Catalog which is in your OneLogin account. You must have a OneLogin account with NCTC to find information about courses that are not embedded.
College readiness- a minimum test score (SAT/ACT/TSIA2) is required to show a student is eligible to register for dual credit. Students who meet the requirement are considered "college ready." See College Readiness section below for minium requirements.
Tuition- the cost to take a college course; it is not free. The tuition for NCTC is significantly less than 4 year universities. DC can save students quite a bit of money.
Dual Credit Parent Presentation-material covered at Jan. 28th DC Parent Night.

This is the information you will need to know about the emails dual credit students will receive from NCTC. Students will receive two emails from NCTC.
The first email from NCTC will be “NCTC Application Received”. It will include a list of missing items in the first paragraph. If it mentions test scores or transcript, disregard. If it mentions residency documents, contact Mrs. Mannion so she can guide you through the next steps. The second paragraph will address scholarships.
The second email from NCTC will begin with “Thank you for choosing NCTC…….” This is the welcome letter and will provide instructions to the OneLogin Portal. It will list your USERNAME and Temporary Password in order to setup your OneLogin. The Temporary Password is the first 7 numbers and will be your NCTC ID. This email can take several business days for to you to receive after submitting the ApplyTexas application.
Example: Student's name is Ima Jag. This is the information Ima would receive to set-up her account.
NCTC Student Email: jagi235431@student.nctc.edu (Last name, first initial, 6 numbers)
User Name: jagi235431
Temporary Password: Az#170433200
The NCTC Student ID number will be the first 7 numbers so 1704332 in this example.

NCTC does registration twice a year. Students who take classes in the fall, will pay tuition in April/May. Students who have dual credit classes in the spring will pay tuition in October/November. Summer tuition is due in April/May as well. Tuition costs $55 per credit hour and most courses have a book fee.
Students can also pay over the phone by calling the NCTC Business Office at 972-899-8400.
Am I exempt from the TSI?
Rising Sophomores are not exempt.
Please keep in mind exemptions depend on the Dual Credit course you want to take. English/history courses require certain English scores. Math/science courses require certain math scores. If you are taking both, check both scores. You are exempt with:
SAT EBRW (reading/writing) score 480+ and/or math score 530+
ACT combined score on English+Reading 40/Math score 22 (tested Feb. 23 or later)
Not exempt? Sign up to take the TSI at FMHS.
Students who have already taken a DC course do NOT need to take the TSIA2 test in March; you have proven college readiness by already taking a DC corse.
I want to take a class that’s not embedded. How does that work?
You need to find information about non-embedded courses through your NCTC OneLogin account. If a course is not embedded, it is not offered on this campus, meaning we do not have course codes or sections numbers for it. Reminder - the only courses you can take are DUAL CREDIT offerings. You may need to cross reference the NCTC Course Catalog with this list to ensure the class you want to take is a Dual Credit course.
If I take an in-person or online course that is not embedded, how will I attend? How will I have time?
There are options for making this work. Classes may be held in the evening after school, or, we can utilize an off period to give you the time needed to attend/work in the course. This will be arranged with your counselor.
Is my class in-person or virtual?
If it is embedded on our campus, you will attend the class in-person here at FMHS. If it is not, you will need to view more information about the course in your NCTC OneLogin account. The course catalog will let you know if the course is in-person or online. Reminder - the only courses you can take are DUAL CREDIT offerings. You may need to cross reference the NCTC Course Catalog with this list to ensure the class you want to take is a Dual Credit course.
I want to add Dual Credit to my schedule in the spring. Since it’s already fall semester, is it too late?
It is not recommended to wait until school begins to make a decision on Dual Credit. Classes fill up in Dual Credit just like regular high school classes! If there are spots available in the course you wish to add, there is a possibility that can be arranged. However, you should always register for the courses you want during our scheduled registration time. Adding/changing classes once school begins is never guaranteed and much more difficult to arrange.
What’s my NCTC ID number? The second email you receive from NCTC will begin with “Thank you for choosing NCTC...” This is the welcome letter and will provide instructions to the OneLogin Portal. It will list your username and temporary password in order to setup your OneLogin. The first 7 numbers of your temporary password is your NCTC ID number. Example: Az#170433200
When is tuition due? Tuition is due after NCTC has registered you for courses. So, this depends on if you are taking courses in the summer, fall, or spring. The good news is that you will receive emails and text messages regarding tuition payment, and all of your payment information can be found in your NCTC OneLogin account!
Do I have to take DC College Algebra prior to taking any other Dual Credit math course? What if I’ve already had Calculus AP? YES! You have to start with College Algebra. Your high school math course do not translate to college courses, so your math pathway starts over!
I missed the sign-up deadline for the TSI at FMHS. What can I do? You can sign up to take the TSI through NCTC instead. NCTC TSI Exam
Do summer courses have a section number? YES! You can find these in the NCTC course catalog!
