Class overview
This course is rigorous and demands a high level of abstract thinking, working with symbols, and application of knowledge to problem solving. Students will study atomic structure, quantum mechanical theory, stoichiometry, solutions, bonding, shapes of molecules, gases, nuclear chemistry, acids and bases. The course contains a major laboratory component.
About me
Mrs. Kay's academic journey includes earning a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry Education from Coker College and a Master of Education from Southern Wesleyan. Commencing her career in high school science education in 2006 with Greenville County Schools, she has amassed a wealth of knowledge, having pursued an additional 50 graduate hours, spanning various graduate technology courses and Chemistry graduate courses at Ohio University.
Throughout the years, Mrs. Kay has adeptly taught a range of subjects, including Physical Science, Environmental Science, and Chemistry, but her true passion and expertise lie in Chemistry. Her dedication to education extended to serving as an adjunct instructor at Tricounty Technical College, where she imparted her knowledge of college-level Chemistry.
Beyond the classroom, Mrs. Kay wears the hats of a homemaker, managing her household with her husband and three boys, alongside their cherished canine companions. Notably, Mrs. Kay and her husband are the proud proprietors of "The Farm at Saluda Ridge," where they nurture various dog breeds.
