Aspire and Flourish
Friday 18th September
Sunday’s Gospel will let us reflect God’s grace being for everyone. Let us all try to be generous to all!
Value of the term: Forgiveness
This week, we have welcomed other Headteacher’s from St John the Baptist Catholic Multi-academy Trust to look at prayer and liturgy within school. They were really impressed with the learning environments, how the children were able to verbalise their experiences of prayer and liturgy and the deep sense of faith within school. It would be lovely for families to share the Gospel and the reflection in this newsletter each week to support us all to grow in faith together.
EYFS applications for September 2027 are now open and we welcome families to tours of school. Please book on to a tour via the poster in the foyer or the link on our website. Share with friends and family members, too!
Please can I take the time to remind families of the importance of not using the school car park, unless you have a Blue Badge or have been given permission. This supports the safety and welfare of children, staff and visitors. As always, thank you for your support with this matter.
On Thursday, we celebrate the feast of Our Lady of Walsingham, the patron of our Diocese. Do share this with children and explore this in home, supporting what we will do in school!
Our Lady of Walsingham, pray for us.

In the Vine we have been focusing on our new book - The Lion Inside, and learning all about animals and their habitats.
This week we have been learning about the story of creation in our RE lessons. We have been learning how to use the art area effectively and how to draw our faces and chose the correct colours when colouring them. The children have been working hard to learn the names of all their new friends.
This week we have continued to write about the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears with a focus on using capital letters and full stops. The children have been learning how to write a sentence independently with visual support. In maths we have been focusing on matching numerals to words. In RE we have been learning about how God created the world. In science we have been learning about the different animal groups and in art we have been learning about primary colours.
In English this week we have started to rewrite the story of Little Red Riding Hood using our own characters, and we have begun to explore using expanded noun phrases to add to make our writing more rich and detailed. In science, we have been learning about materials and their properties. In maths, we have continued with our place value topic, and in RE we have been exploring the story of Noah.
Year 3 have had another busy and exciting week of learning!
In English, we have been developing our understanding of expanded noun phrases, prepositions and pronouns. These are all important skills that we will be using next week to create our own amazing character descriptions.
In Maths, our focus has been on place value. We have mastered partitioning numbers to 100 and are now ready to extend our learning to numbers beyond 100.
In Art, we were introduced to the famous artist Henri Matisse and explored his unique style of art. We looked closely at some of his work and began to identify the colours, shapes and techniques that make his artwork so distinctive.
It has been a fantastic week of learning, and we are looking forward to seeing what next week brings!
It has been another busy and exciting week in Year 4! We have been learning all about rainforests and using our growing topic knowledge to write some fantastic setting descriptions. The children have been using rich vocabulary, expanded noun phrases and their senses to bring the rainforest to life in their writing.
Our TT Rockstars have also been rocking this week! Both Year 4 classes have been leading the Battle of the Bands across Key Stage 2, showing fantastic enthusiasm and determination as they work hard to improve their times tables.
In RE, we have been exploring the topics of Creation and Covenant and expressing our understanding through art and drama. It has been wonderful to see the children sharing their ideas creatively and thoughtfully. It has certainly been a busy week, but what a great week of learning, creativity and teamwork it has been!
It has been another busy and exciting week in Year 5! In RE, the children have explored the story of Moses, thinking carefully about his relationship with God and his important role in Scripture. Our Space topic has really taken off as we have been learning about the Space Race and researching the different planets in our Solar System. In Maths, we have been developing our understanding of place value, reading, writing and working with numbers up to one million. In English, the children have begun planning their own non-chronological reports and have been learning how to use relative clauses to add extra detail and interest to their writing. Another fantastic week of learning in Year 5!
Another action-packed week has flown by in Year 6! This week, Cairo Class have had the opportunity to take part in their exciting World War Two focus week with IntoUniversity. They have explored the role of propaganda during the war and discovered more about influential figures, including Anne Frank and Alan Turing. The children particularly enjoyed their visit to Peterborough Museum, where stepping inside the air-raid shelter helped bring their learning to life. They also visited ARU Peterborough, working together to create and deliver presentations and gaining a taste of university life. Back at school, Brasilia Class have demonstrated excellent perseverance and maturity as they tackled their first set of Year 6 mock SATs. They have also been busy developing their knowledge of World War Two through research and have begun exploring their new RE topic, Creation and Covenant. We are incredibly proud of the positive attitude both classes have shown towards the different challenges and experiences they have encountered this week.
