Hello! I am happy to continue with the kids this year as the Science and Social Studies teacher. I have B.S. from John Carroll University in Biology and an M.En in Environmental Science from Miami University. I have worked at the Great Lakes Science Center and at Lake Metroparks as a teacher/naturalist for over 18 years. Teaching science is my passion and I am grateful that I can teach 5th grade.
Being a Catholic is very important to me. My husband and I are involved with sacrament preparation for Marriage and Confirmation. We also are very involved in other aspects of the parish with the Festival, Community Day, and the choir on Sunday evening mass.
Philosophy of Education:
I believe that every child is unique and they all have special interests and talent. I want the children to be able to finish the year with confidence in these abilities and talents. It is my desire that the students learn how to become independent thinkers and develop their critical thinking skills. I will provide many different opportunities for the students to practice this skill through projects and labs. As the students work through the curriculum I believe that the hands-on component is essential in cementing not only the content, but the confidence in thinking for themselves.
