Discovery's Mission:

Embraced by a CHARACTER building approach, SST Discovery focuses on delivering an enriching, safe, and student centered learning environment. Focusing on 21st century skills, we strive for academic and socio-emotional development through a rigorous college preparatory and STEM-based learning model. We have advanced curriculum to prepare our students ready for college and to lead our students from the classroom into the world as productive and responsible citizens.

Meet Our Admin Team!

Mrs. Amber Johnson {Dean of Academics Grades PreK - 3rd}

Mrs. Johnson has been with SST Discovery for 7 years. Prior to becoming the Dean of Academics. Mrs. Johnson was a 2nd grade teacher, reading interventionist, and the schools Gifted and Talented (GT) coordinator

Mrs. Atikah Shemshack {Dean of Academics Grades 4-8}

Going into her sixth year working in school administration, Mrs. Shemshack is currently working on her doctorate degree with the University of North Texas in learning technologies and working on personalized/adaptive learning. Mrs. Shemshack has worked with many different charter schools with roles that include: being a math teacher, GT coach, High school college Counselor, and with AP academics.

Mr. Jesus Gonzalez {Dean of Students}

Mr. Gonzalez has been part of the SST family for the last 9 years. Mr.Gonzalez is going into his third year working as an admin for Discovery. Prior to taking on the role of becoming a part of the admin team, Gonzalez was the Physical Education teacher and held the position of representing Discovery's athletics department as the Sports Director.

Ms. Fabiola Valdez {Operations Manager}

Ms. Valdez has served SST Discovery for 5 years and is completing her 3rd year as the school's operations manager. Before taking care of our school operations, Ms. Valdez worked in the front office as a lunch clerk, activity fund coordinator, secretary, and kinder teacher's assistant.

Mrs. Jessica Romero {Principal}

Mrs. Romero has been dedicated to ensuring all students are provided with engaging quality instruction, along with opportunities to develop social and emotional skills in her three years as school principal. Mrs. Romero has served the SST Community for over 10 years with a focus on creating student-centered classrooms and community engagement.
