Global trends in linguistic globalization have dynamically reshaped the communicative landscape of human societies. These changes are evident across multiple dimensions, including local community mother tongues, migrant languages, and multilingual and plurilingual practices in international spaces. Such phenomena have significant implications for cultural identity, social equity, language education policy, national and regional language planning, as well as the challenges of language maintenance and the sustainable management of linguistic diversity.
In the contemporary context, international organizations such as UNESCO have emphasized the critical importance of safeguarding mother tongues and promoting linguistic diversity. At the same time, continuous cross-border migration has created new spaces for linguistic contact, interaction, and hybridization between local languages and the languages of migrant or labor communities. These developments have become central research concerns in sociolinguistics, language policy and planning, and multilingualism studies.
The International Conference on Linguistics and Globalism: Mother Tongues, Migrant Languages and Multilingualism aims to provide an interdisciplinary platform for the exchange of knowledge and ideas. It brings together scholars, researchers, language professionals, and policymakers from higher education institutions and international research communities to discuss, analyze, and present empirical studies on mother tongues, migrant languages, and multilingual practices in the context of globalization. The conference seeks to generate academic insights and practical recommendations that will contribute to language education and effective language policy management in multilingual societies within an increasingly interconnected, borderless world.
