Mentorships

The Stewartville High School Mentorship Experience is a joint endeavor wtih Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. This new class is designed to encourage students entering their senior year of high school to consider potential career opportunities in a wide variety of biomedical, science-related fields. The primary focus for a student mentorship experience should be on math, science and technology related careers as it relates to the mission of the Rochester Area Math Science Partnership.

Students are assigned a mentor at Mayo Clinic and must complete a minimum of 60, non-paid hours. Students are required to complete other assignments related to the mentorship. The experience must take place during the summer months between a student's junior and senior years. Students successfully completing all required components of the mentorship experience will be awarded 0.5 elective credits.

The mentorship experience is intended for students already performing at very high levels academically. This individualized learning experience will assist students in learning new skills and exploring a potential career field under the direct supervision of a professional in the medical community. All mentorships are handled on an individual basis.
