Ms. Grant

Welcome to Ms. Susan Grant's Webpage!

A little about me and my goals as an educator:

A quote I came across recently stated, "To teach is to learn twice." - Joseph Joubert

This quote really resonated with me. I have been teaching since 1996, and since 2001 here at Stewartville, however I would consider myself a lifelong teacher and learner. My educational path began at Dover-Eyota, from there to Winona State, then 12 years in business, next a return to education and an update of skills from St. Cloud State and a masters in Teaching and Learning from St. Mary's University. With a curiosity of the world around us all, I continue to take courses, and most importantly learn from the new crop of students we receive each school year.

My love of Social Studies began with stories my grandfather told about growing up in Southeast Minnesota. A poster on the wall in my room has another influential quote, "You live your life looking forward; you understand your life looking backward." It is this reflective practice that drives what we do in each class I teach: US History, Economics, and College Now Sociology. We want to have learning be meaningful and real. We want to learn from each other. We want to find things in the class that speak to our passions and interests. We want to enhance our skills and most importantly, have fun along the way!

I am also the head speech coach, so if you have a love of public speaking/performing or want to develop this skill - we would LOVE to have you be a part of the team! Please see me or contact me for more information.
