Grades for this class will be based on three basic criteria. The work you produce class, participation and keeping an organized binder.
The work you produce will be listed as assignments in the grade book and will account for 60% of your grade.
Grading of assignments will be based on a rubric for all assignments. Rubrics for grading will be attached to all assignment sheets handed out prior to project.
Rubric criteria for most projects will based on basic such as: Creativity, Composition, Lighting, and Editing.
10% of grades will be based on daily participation in the course. Participation points will be given daily for coming to class and participating in daily tasks. Participation points can be taken for any reason.
30% Of your grade will be based binder Assignments. Binder assignments will be focused on in class notes, homework and preparatory research for Photography projects. These assignments will be turned in digitally but You should have a three ring one inch binder for this class. All work will be organized chronologically and will reflect the work your are producing and have completed in this class.
A teacher shall base a student's grades on impartial, consistent observation of the quality of the student's work and his/her mastery of course content and district standards. Students shall have the opportunity to demonstrate this mastery through a variety of methods such as classroom participation, homework, tests, and portfolios (BP 5121).
In addition:
Students may drop a course within the first 3 weeks of the semester without the class or grade appearing on the transcript. If a course is dropped after the third week of a semester, the teacher may give an "N" grade or an "F" grade depending on the quality of the student's work to date and provided that proper notice concerning the possibility of failure has been given to the parents. Parents may request a teacher- conference to discuss the implications of an "F" grade (AR 5121).
For this Course you will not need a digital camera or film camera, however if you have access to a DSLR or film camera at home you may use it for this class. If you do not have access to a camera I will be able to provide you with one from the cameras in my classroom.
This class is an introduction to digital and film photography. For digital Photography you will be given access to the Adobe Creative Cloud to work in both Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. This software does not run on every device, most notably chrome books, and tablets, you will need a laptop or desktop computer. We will have access to dedicated laptops on campus , so if you don't have your own device its not a problem.
All students will also receive a district Chromebook to use for schoolwork. It is required for online standardized state testing, as well as for some CollegeBoard exams (PSAT, AP). Student Support
Students will be able to access the photo classroom during student support to work on ongoing and late projects. Students who are not in this class will not be allowed access into the photo classroom (don't bring your friends).
