Because everyone is an individual, it is difficult to give out recomendations regarding track & field footwear. We do recommend going to a specialized running store such as Forward Motion in Danville or Fleet Feet to have a staff member analyze your foot strike pattern to see what type of shoe is suggested. Ryan's Sports Shop in Santa Clara is Coach Poynter's Top Choice for track & field footwear because their staff has many many years of working with high quality athletes. All of these stores will provide you with a student-ahtlete discount if you mention Dougherty Valley HS.
It is highly recommended to get new training shoes every year, if possible.
For sprinter spikes, consider choosing a basic all purpose shoe with a cushioned heel that works for multiple events. The Nike Zoom Rival Mullti Spike is good for all sprinting events and jumps. It can even be used for the 800 and 1600. At around $70, it's reasonable priced.

For high jump, the Nike Zoom Rival Multi Spike is another good option.
More experienced high jumpers might want to consider getting a specific high jump shoe such as the Nike Zoom HJ Elite.

The shoes mentioned above are not specifically endorsed by DVHS. They are possible shoe options; there are numerous other shoes to consider. Athletes that are fairly new to track & field should probably consider a reasonably priced option at first, as more experienced runners tend to shop for more expensive and specialized footwear options.
