Patron Saints of Nothing
Text Set
Essential Question: How does one decide whether or not to call out injustices in the world?
In Patron Saints of Nothing, Jay sets out on his own to find answers to the mysterious death of his cousin, Jun. During Spring Break of his senior year, Jay travels to the Philippines, and his quest leads him down a path where he is forced to question the way the government has addressed drug use, what role his uncle (a police officer) played in drug policies along with the disappearance of Jun, and how this ties into Jay's entire view of his place in the world and his family. Students will examine where they stand on calling out injustices in the world by viewing the three parts of this site and delving into the focus questions on identity, history & politics, and addition.
