This course's grading is aligned with SRVUSD’s board grading policy.
A teacher shall base a student's grades on impartial, consistent observation of the quality of the student's work and his/her mastery of course content and district standards. Students shall have the opportunity to demonstrate this mastery through a variety of methods such as classroom participation, homework, tests, and portfolios (BP 5121)
In order to provide consistent and equitable grading practices, French teachers at Monte Vista have identified "identical grading scales and grading weights (BP 5121), class participation and grade rounding practices.
In addition, students will be provided with multiple ways to demonstrate mastery of content. Grades will not be based on extra credit, behavior, or citizenship.
Standards-Based Grading
Most assessments (informal and projects) will follow standards-based grading.
Performance-based assessments include formal writing assessments in every issue and speeches that students present after every two issues.
Class Participation assessments include classwork completion and active class participation.
Curriculum-embedded assessments for each issue are graded online but will also be completed in printed format.

We believe it is critical to master this behavior during high school in order to successfully navigate the educational systems and/or work environments our students will encounter once they leave Monte Vista High School.
