Wait...what is Piner's athletic trainer doing on the PE page?! Starting in the 2021-22 school year, Ms. Matthew will no longer be Piner's athletic trainer. She'll be moving to the PE department and teaching PE 2 and advanced soccer.

Ms. Matthew is originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin but moved out to Santa Rosa in 2018 with her husband to see a different part of the country. (She's now lived in four different states). Prior to becoming a teacher, she was a certified athletic trainer for ten years working with high school athletes and dancers. She got her degree at Northern Michigan University, where she spent a lot of time watching college hockey. In her free time, she loves to read, hike, garden, snowboard, and watch baseball (she's a Brewers fan).

Ms. Matthew believes that everyone can find a love for being active and moving: one size doesn't fit all! One of her goals is to try and help her students find what works for them and instill a love of learning, making mistakes, and trying new things.
