Community Engagement

SPS Access Class

This unique learning opportunity for up to 35 certified educators and leaders enhances community awareness, builds meaningful connections with other SPS teachers and community networks, increases knowledge of community resources available to support SPS students and families, and raises consciousness of future opportunities available to SPS students after graduation. This will take place seated at a location in the community.

In this session, you will learn why movement is a key component of learning and how to incorporate functional movement in the traditional and virtual classroom without losing instructional minutes. You will leave with confidence, teacher friendly strategies, resources and skills to create an active classroom to maximize learning and engagement for ALL students while supporting their health. AVMR

This training includes certification from US Math Recovery Council. It provides in-depth training in numeracy progressions, whole class instruction and intervention in the domains of number words and numerals, structuring, and addition and subtraction. Cooperative Learning

Actively engage your learners to transform your classroom and your students’ achievement! By the end of these three days, participants will be able to explain the difference between cooperative learning and group work. Teachers will also walk away with over 20 structures that can be used with any content. LETRS is a professional learning course for K-5th Grade instructors of reading, spelling, and related language skills. It provides educators with in-depth knowledge and tools that they can use with any reading program. Several options are available.

Optional Site Collaboration

Interested in optional site collaboration with colleagues with whom you work?

If the answer is yes, then read below:


Professional learning funds can be used for teams to collaborate for up to 4 hours. This time must be professional learning and not professional work time.


In order to be paid for your collaboration, the following must be true:

  • You hold a certified position in SPS and collaboration takes place with other certified educators in SPS.

  • Collaboration occurs outside of the duty day, SPLS planning, and any other compensated training or work time (i.e. IM training, Explore training, teaching/leading Explore)

  • Your site administrator approved your collaboration agenda in advance, including the time you intend to collaborate. Here is an agenda you can personalize.

  • Collaboration with colleagues is around reflection, planning, or new learning that will have the greatest impact on student learning. This is not work time.

  • Collaboration is aligned to site goals as outlined by your previous SAP or upcoming SAP.

  • You acknowledge that four (4) hours is the maximum amount of time you will be paid even if you choose to engage in more hours of collaboration.

  • This form is completed by every individual upon completion of collaboration.

  • An agenda must accompany each submission on the above form (link will be placed in the final question on the form).
