Springfield Public Schools Summer Professional Learning

Click the blue button to the right to register for sessions unless it is noted below not to use Kickup. Hourly rate of pay for current SPS employees is $25/hour unless otherwise noted. Rate of pay for those new to SPS will be in accordance with "Paid Upon Completion" rate of the 2025-26 Salary Schedule and be issued at the end of August.
Trainings in June will be paid in the 2025 Fiscal Year. Trainings that occur on or after July 1 are paid in the 2026 Fiscal Year and will be issued in the first paycheck of that year which is September 15, 2025.

More than Tickets and Trinkets: Building the Foundation for PBIS with Conscious Discipline®
PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) can sometimes feel like it’s just about handing out stickers, tickets, or trinkets for good behavior. But PBIS is so much more than a reward system – it’s a proactive framework for building a positive school culture and teaching social-emotional skills. This interactive one-day training will help you rediscover the true spirit of PBIS by adding the trauma-informed, brain-based foundation of Conscious Discipline® to your practice. This training includes certification from US Math Recovery Council. It provides in-depth training in numeracy progressions, whole class instruction and intervention in the domains of number words and numerals, structuring, and addition and subtraction. Cooperative Learning
Actively engage your learners to transform your classroom and your students’ achievement! By the end of these three days, participants will be able to explain the difference between cooperative learning and group work. Teachers will also walk away with over 20 structures that can be used with any content. Springfield Regional Arts Integration Conference
The Springfield Regional Arts Integration Conference brings together educators in southwest Missouri to learn about arts integration strategies for classroom implementation. Utilizing “Focus Five” teaching artists and local educators and teaching arts, you will learn more about the role arts integration can play in both arts and core classroom settings. LEAD Forward Institute is designed for site leaders and guiding coalitions. The two-day learning is designed to dive deeply into PLCs while setting the course for productive site professional learning for the coming school year through action planning and professional learning teams.

Renaissance Training
Renaissance Star Assessment Suite and Renaissance DnA will be implemented during the 2025-2026 school year. Renaissance will replace Galileo as our district assessment platform. This training will provide you with the resources to administer assessments, the ability to create assessments, and access to utilize online instructional resources. 7 Steps to an Interactive Language Rich Classroom
This innovative training will help all teachers transform their classrooms into vibrant spaces where students can use academic language to talk, read, write, and think about each lesson’s content. This 7 Steps training outlines a dynamic process for structuring, planning, and facilitating a language-rich classroom. In addition,. participants gain knowledge of helpful ways to integrate both content and language standards when planning instruction. They also receive specific strategies for differentiating instruction so that all learners within the classroom can build their ability to discuss and communicate academic concepts effectively. Teach Forward Summer Series
Teach Forward is the annual professional learning related to curriculum implementation. Teach Forward will occur on Thursday, August 14 for certified staff. It will consist of 3 hours of content learning and 3 hours of Renaissance learning.
This year it is possible to complete this learning prior to August 14.
Should you wish to do so, sessions are offered for many roles during the summer.
