If you have a Bachelor's Degree in a world language, you would be eligible to apply for a provisional teaching license with the corresponding world language endorsement (if hired). This would allow you to teach grades K-12. A provisional license allows you to teach for up to three years while completing any remaining requirements for a full teaching license. Once hired, the licensure coordinator will assist you in submitting documentation to VDOE for this license.
If you do not have a Bachelor's Degree in a world language, but do have a Bachelor's Degree in another subject, you will need to pass a Praxis assessment in order to obtain a provisional teaching license with an world language endorsement.
To teach world languages, you would need to pass either:
the Praxis 5174 (French)
the Praxis 5183 (German)
the Praxis 5195 (Spanish)
*Latin does not have a Praxis assessment.
