If you have a Bachelor's Degree in math, you would be eligible to apply for a provisional teaching license with an math endorsement (if hired). This would allow you to teach grades 6-12. A provisional license allows you to teach for up to three years while completing any remaining requirements for a full teaching license. Once hired, the licensure coordinator will assist you in submitting documentation to VDOE for this license.
If you do not have a Bachelor's Degree in math, but do have a Bachelor's Degree in another subject, you will need to pass a Praxis assessment in order to obtain a provisional teaching license with an math endorsement.
To teach middle school (grades 6-8) math, you would need to pass either:
the Praxis 5164 (Middle School Mathematics)
the Praxis 5165 (Mathematics)
To teach high school (grades 9-12), you would need to pass:
the Praxis 5165 (Mathematics)
