Shyama Prasad Mukherji College for Women is a well-known multidisciplinary women’s college of University of Delhi. It was established in the year 1969. The college motto “tejasvi naavadhimastu” in Sanskrit has a profound meaning. It is derived from the Taittiriya Upanishad. It means – Let our efforts at learning be luminous and filled with joy, and endowed with the force of purpose.

We take pride in saying that ours is the only college in University of Delhi that runs both B.El.Ed. and B.Ed. courses under the guidance of highly qualified and competent faculty. With its rich experience of running successfully both B.Ed. and B.El.Ed. programme, SPM College has started ITEP with one unit of B.A. B.Ed.(Secondary) programme from the academic session 2023-24, duly approved by NCTE. The ITEP programme emphasizes on preparing teachers as envisaged in Pedagogical and Curricular restructuring of school education under NEP 2020.

The Department of Education congratulates Ms. Sushma Kumari, on being awarded the University Gold Medal for highest marks in BEd, 2022-24, at the 101st University Convocation.
