Uploading An AD To Specle

1. Search for the publication you require in the search bar on the My Ad Deliveries tab, or in the search bar at the top of the page.

2. Find the size you require, and click on Send Ad.

3. Fill in the required fields, as indicated by the blue mark. These fields are for the publisher's reference, and it is important that you fill these out as accurately as possible. The required sections may vary for different publications.

Advertiser - the company being advertised.

Headline - the headline of the ad, or, if you are doing a campaign, it could be the name of the campaign.

Insertion date - the date the ad will be published.

Special Instructions - any special requirements, such as the order of ads, or whether it is going in a particular supplement.

4. Click on Choose File at the bottom of the page and choose the artwork you want to send, then click on Upload. Your ad will be preflighted against the specifications of the publisher.

5. You will be taken to the My Ad Deliveries page, where you can see the status of your ad on the right.

6. Click on that bar to go to the Specle Report Page for that job, where you can view the preflight report, generate a vizualiser report, download final file, and more.

7. Click Help to send a help request to Specle Support. Click Discard to delete this job. Click Start Again to replace your current file with a different file.

Previewing your ad

The soft preview attempts to show the most accurate representation of your ad, in accordance with the colour profile of the publication you are supplying to.

1. Click on Soft preview on your Specle Send Report page to view your soft preview.

2. Ensure you are using the latest versions of Safari or Chrome. You can test whether your browser supports colour profiles here: http://cameratico.com/tools/web-browser-color-management-test/

For the most accurate result, your monitor should be calibrated using a device. We recommend the X-Rite i1 Display or the Datacolor Spyder.

Fixing a failed ad

If your ad fails the preflight check you will need to amend the file before it can be delivered. Click on Review Errors to see a summary of the errors. Click on Soft Preview and Visualizer Report to get further information on your file. To find out how to correct preflight errors, please see our Identifying Errors section.

For further instructions on how to fix errors, click Help to send a help request to the support team, or call 0207 871 3555.

Once you have amended your file, click on Start Again on the Specle Send Report page to replace your artwork.

Alternatively, click on Fix It For Me to have a Specle Operator fix your file at a cost of £35+VAT.

A Specle Fix-Up can amend all errors on your ad, except for size, resolution, and text being close to the edge of the page. You should allow up to two hours for a fix-up to be completed. Ads submitted outside working hours will not be amended until working hours. You will receive an email once the ad has been released back to you for approval.

Once your ad has been corrected by you or by a Specle Operator, you must click on Approve and Send to deliver the ad to the publisher.

ensuring that your ad is delivered

Once you click on Approve and Send you will be prompted for payment details (unless you are sending to a publisher-paid publication).

If no pop-up appears when you click on Approve and Send, please ensure that your browser is up-to-date and that you do not have an ad-blocker enabled.

After filling in the details you will be taken to a page that says Please wait -payment processing. If the payment page does not refresh, please go back to the My Ad Deliveries page and click on the relevant job.

If the Specle Send Report says Payment Failed, go to My Settings. If your card has expired, please delete it and add a new card. Then click Approve and Send again.

If the card has not expired, please delete your card and try a different one if possible, or contact your bank.

If the Specle Send Report says Payment Processing it means that you have clicked Approve and Send, but not proceeded with filling in the payment details in the pop-up. Please click on Approve and Send again to continue.

Once the ad says Delivered it means that the publisher has received it.
