Spearfish High School RISE works in partnership with Spearfish High School to empower students through:

Spearfish High School RISE envisions a future where every student discovers their potential, finds their purpose, and graduates prepared to thrive as a responsible, engaged, and self-directed member of their community.
How to become a full-time student:
Students must have 10 credits to be eligible.
Behavior and attendance will be considered for acceptance.
Students need to be employed or be working through the employment process.
Complete the application (see the counseling office)
Turn in the application to Mr. Williams or Mr. Seyer.
Spaces fill quickly; turn in an application as early as possible for the best chance of being accepted into the program.
Students who have successfully completed the application stage, along with their parents/guardians, are required to attend an initial meeting. This meeting will be held at the Spearfish High School CTE building either before or after school and will last approximately 30 minutes. Attendance is mandatory; students will not be accepted into the program without participating in this meeting.
Official placement will be announced at the student, parent/guardian, and teacher meeting.
Placement will be evaluated each semester to determine placement and success.
Student, parent/guardian, and teacher meetings may be mandatory for re-enrollment in future semesters. These meetings will be communicated as needed.
STUDENTS WILL BE REQUIRED TO FOLLOW ALL POLICIES AND EXPECTATIONS OUTLINED IN THE SPEARFISH HIGH SCHOOL HANDBOOK AS WELL AS THE SPEARFISH HIGH SCHOOL RISE NORMS AND EXPECTATIONS OUTLINED BELOW.
Policies and Expectations:
Cell phones:
Cell phone use is limited.
Cell phones must be placed in phone box until a student has:
completed all of their work for the day
actively passing all classes
completed all missing/make-up work
complete the check-out sheet
are in green in their online/Edgenuity classes
Cell phones are not to be taken out of the classroom during bathroom breaks or switching classes.
Cell phones will be held until dismissal if a student:
is tardy to first period
received an early dismissal the day before and had not completed all work before the early dismissal
has more than one absence per week
is using their cell phone without completing the proper steps
is in red in their online/Edgenuity classes
Absences and dismissals:
Students are allowed 10 attendance infractions per semester. After 10 attendance infractions have been reached, students will be considered for removal the following semester.
Absence infractions are:
tardiness
early dismissal
appointments
illness
vacations
all other absences: excused and unexcused per semester
Parking
All students need to park in the student parking and not in the CTE parking lot.
1:45 Dismissal:
Students may have the opportunity to leave campus during the last period each day if:
There is no pre-planned class activity, school activity, or field trip.
They are passing all classes.
They have completed all of their work for the day.
They have completed all missing/make-up work.
They have completed the checkout sheet.
They are in green in their online/Edgenuity classes.
They arrived at school/their classes on time.
They have good attendance.
They are in good behavioral standing.
Dress Code and Personal Hygiene:
All students must follow the SHS dress code policy. Students failing to follow this policy will be immediately sent to speak to an administrator.
Online Learning:
All submitted online assignments will only be graded when the student is physically present with the teacher.
All tests/quizzes that require a teacher to open them will only be opened when a teacher can physically proctor the exam.
Any plagiarism that is found in Edgenuity will result in an immediate zero for that assignment/test/quiz.
Plagiarism may result in removal from RISE.
