ABOUT THE PROGRAM
The Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Technology (BSRadtech) is a four-year degree program consisting of general education and professional courses. The fourth year is undertaken as a Clinical Education Training Program in accredited affiliation centers. The program affords training in general radiography and the special fields of Radiology including Ultrasound, Computed Tomography, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Mammography, Nuclear Medicine, Radiotherapy, Interventional Radiology, and other emergent fields.
The Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Technology Program aims to produce radiologic technologists who are imbued with 21st century skills and are competent to fulfill professional responsibilities in the following areas: diagnostic imaging, therapeutic and interventional procedures, radiation safety and protection, patient care, administration and management, education, research, entrepreneurship, and life-long learning.
CLINICAL EDUCATION
The Radiologic Technology Clinical Education Training Program is implemented during the fourth-year level of the Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Technology program. The program consists of eleven (11) months of intensive clinical training in general radiography and the special fields of Radiology including Ultrasound, Computed Tomography, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Mammography, Nuclear Medicine, Radiotherapy, Interventional Radiology, and other emergent fields. The program requires Radiologic Technology Interns to be assigned to the various affiliation centers of the school. The interns shall undertake to perform or assist in at least eight hundred (800) radiographic examinations during the entire internship period in general and special radiographic examinations. It also inculcates in the student's positive values, sense of commitment to work, compassion, and concern for one's fellowmen.
VISION
The Radiologic Technology Clinical Education Training Program is a comprehensive training program in accredited imaging facilities that ensures opportunities for clinical experience and skills training of Radiologic Technology students according to the established standards and requirements of Radiologic Technology Education.
MISSION
The mission of the Radiologic Technology Education Training Program is to develop in students the necessary skills and attitudes required of a Radiologic Technologist through the application of acquired knowledge and provision of quality clinical exposure and experiences to adequately prepare graduates for entry level clinical practice.
OBJECTIVES
At the end of the Clinical Education Training Program, Radiologic Technology Interns shall:
Demonstrate anatomic structures of interest in an imaging medium by applying knowledge of anatomy, physiology, positioning, and radiographic techniques.
Determine the correct exposure factors to produce optimum quality radiographic images.
Apply the principles and laws on radiation protection.
Exercise critical thinking and independent judgment in the technical performance of medical imaging and therapeutic procedures.
Demonstrate social-consciousness and ethical practice in the clinical setting.
Appreciate technological advancement in the field of research and continuing education in the Radiologic Sciences.
The Radiologic Technology Department of San Pedro College – School of Allied Health Sciences proudly announces its achievement of Level I Accredited Status from the Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities (PAASCU).
This recognition affirms that the program has successfully met the rigorous standards and complied with the quality assurance requirements set by PAASCU. The accreditation reflects the department’s commitment to excellence in instruction, curriculum development, research, student services, and clinical training.
Attaining Level I PAASCU Accredited Status marks a significant milestone in the continuous pursuit of academic quality and institutional improvement. It highlights the collaborative efforts of the faculty, administrators, students, alumni, and stakeholders who contribute to the growth and advancement of the Radiologic Technology program.
With this achievement, the department remains steadfast in its mission to provide quality education, produce competent healthcare professionals, and uphold the values and tradition of San Pedro College.
