What is happening with the rising cost of veterinary care?
Yes, veterinarians earn advanced degrees that require a significant financial investment, and there is immense value in our knowledge, skills, and experience. But what happens when veterinary care becomes cost-prohibitive?
Pets go without care, leading to unnecessary suffering from preventable diseases and conditions.
Pets remain unspayed or unneutered, directly contributing to pet overpopulation.
Pets end up in overcrowded shelters, where far too many never make it out.
At Spay Neuter Vets, we wanted to offer affordable surgical procedures in an individualized, high-quality setting to fill this critical gap. Having spent nearly two decades in corporate management focused on growth and efficiency, I knew we could lower overhead and deliver accessible services while maintaining a sustainable practice.
First, we embrace the “Spectrum of Care.” The American Animal Hospital Association defines it as the idea that veterinary care exists along a continuum instead of requiring us to always exceed a set baseline or follow a prescribed “gold standard.” This approach allows us to offer services at a lower price point by focusing on safe, effective, and high-quality care without the extreme price points of high end specialty hospitals. Think of it like travel: you could stay at the Four Seasons for $1,000 a night and enjoy premium luxury, or stay at the Hampton Inn for $250 a night and still get a clean, comfortable, and reliable night's rest. Both options meet your primary need, but one costs a fraction of the price.

Second, Spay Neuter Vets makes procedures affordable through a payment solution called Cherry. With Cherry, clients can split their surgical costs into four interest-free payments, making essential care much easier to manage. Pet owners can easily apply for Cherry veterinary payment plans through a quick, one-minute application that requires only a soft credit check, providing instant approval so your pet can get scheduled for surgery immediately.
Veterinarians dedicate at least four years beyond undergraduate study to earn a doctorate. There is a lot of blood, sweat and tears invested during that time, not to mention financial debt. While our skills and experience carry genuine value, pricing services out of reach for average pet owners helps no one. When care becomes unaffordable, pets are the ones who suffer.
At Spay Neuter Vets, our mission is to ensure compassionate, affordable veterinary care remains accessible to everyone who needs it.
