The One-Day International Workshop on “Urban Complexity and Digital Twins for Inclusive Planning” was successfully held at the School of Planning and Architecture, Vijayawada (SPAV) on 26 March 2026 at the Exhibition Hall.
Organized by the Department of Planning, the workshop focused on emerging approaches in urban planning, particularly the transition from Urban Digital Twins (UDT) to Social Digital Twins (SDT). The sessions emphasized the integration of real-time human experiences, social media analytics, and behavioral data into urban systems, promoting a shift from infrastructure-centric models to more inclusive, human-centered planning frameworks.
The workshop featured distinguished speakers, Prof. Eric Leclerc (University of Lille, France) and Ar. Ravi Kumar Reddy K (Practicing Planner, Hyderabad), who delivered insightful lectures on the application of digital technologies in shaping sustainable and responsive urban environments. Their sessions provided valuable perspectives on leveraging data-driven tools for better decision-making in planning practice.
The programme included technical sessions, interactive discussions, panel review of student studio works, and student presentations, encouraging active participation and knowledge exchange among students, faculty members, researchers, and professionals.
The event witnessed enthusiastic engagement from participants and served as a meaningful platform for exploring innovative, inclusive, and future-ready urban planning strategies, reflecting SPAV’s continued commitment to academic excellence and research-driven learning.
