Janjatiya Gaurav Varsh Pakhwada (1st – 15th November 2025)
Commemorating the 150th Birth Anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda
The School of Planning and Architecture, Vijayawada (SPA Vijayawada), an Institute of National Importance under the Ministry of Education, Government of India, proudly joined the nation in observing the Janjatiya Gaurav Varsh Pakhwada from 1st to 15th November 2025 to mark the 150th Birth Anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda, one of India’s most revered tribal freedom fighters, social reformers, and national heroes.
This two-week observance was organized under the guidance of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India, as part of a nationwide initiative to celebrate the rich heritage, traditions, and contributions of India’s tribal communities to the nation’s cultural and historical identity.
Bhagwan Birsa Munda, fondly known as “Dharti Aba” (Father of the Earth), symbolizes the spirit of resistance, courage, and social empowerment. His relentless efforts in mobilizing the tribal communities against colonial oppression and his vision of social justice, equality, and self-determination continue to inspire generations.
During the Pakhwada, SPA Vijayawada conducted awareness activities, cultural discussions, and educational initiatives highlighting the values of inclusion, sustainability, and respect for India’s indigenous communities — aligning with the institute’s ethos of fostering holistic development through education, research, and community engagement.
The event was organized under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Ramesh Srikonda, Director, SPA Vijayawada, and received active participation from students, faculty, and staff, reflecting the institute’s commitment to promoting cultural diversity, social responsibility, and national unity.
Through this observance, SPA Vijayawada reaffirmed its dedication to preserving and promoting India’s tribal heritage while nurturing awareness about the invaluable contributions of tribal leaders like Bhagwan Birsa Munda in shaping the nation’s destiny.
