Neil married Susan Bockman in 1964, and they have two children: Dennis and Roxanne (first grandchild Parker Jon). Neil has been an executive in the apparel industry, including Vice-President of Manufacturing. He has traveled throughout the Caribbean and the U.S. Since leaving Sparta in 1991 for North Carolina, Neil stayed in touch with local Spartan news through his subscription to the local newspaper.
Neil has replaced the more active athletics of baseball, softball, and racquetball with hunting, golf, and a little fishing.
Neil says, "To have been selected to become a member of the Sparta High School Athletic Hall of Fame and have my name associated with those current members and members yet to be named is a distinct honor. It is particularly satisfying to join my brother Dale Andrus and my nephew Larry Andrus who are currently in the Hall of Fame. An athlete is an individual competitor who trains to develop his skills. Athletics teach us to use those skills in conjunction with other trained athletes to accomplish team competititiveness. The participation in athletics is a great training period for future career success. Success for an athlete is not winning or losing, but to give it all you got - all the time."
