Cheryl married Rod Dewey, who she met while participating in the Creston High School Volleyball Invitational during her senior year. He had taken pictures of her playing basketball against West Catholic that year, and he introduced himself to her when he gave her the photos. They have three beautiful children: Kegan, Colin, and Kellen.
After studying theraeutic recreation and psychology at Aquinas College and Grand Valley State University, Cheryl was employed as Activity Director at Meadowlark Retirement Village, Residential Services Supervisor for mentally ill senior citizens, and a mental health technician at St. Mary's hospital.
Cheryl continues to run when her hectic schedule allows and she started mountain biking with her husband.
Cheryl says, "Participating in high school athletics is a rewarding experience that I think every student should take advantage of. You can't go back in time and do it over again, so going for it and giving it your best effort every time you participate is the key. Do this and you will have been setting a positive lifelong pattern that will carry through life's many challenges.
