HMS Bands

It is my pleasure to teach the Sparta Fourth and Fifth Grade Bands.

Our HMS Musicians not only learn how to play with good sounds, to read music, and to perform, but we contribute our creativity, dedication, and JOY to the HMS Community.

Enjoy the Music around you!

Ms. Curtis

Dear Parents & Guardians,

I hope all is well with you and your family. It is great to play with my fifth graders during our weekly lessons, and I look forward to meeting our newest band members in fourth grade soon!

Our long-distance learning for band will take place through Google Classroom. There will be specific Google Classrooms for each instrument and grade. (ie Gr 4 Flutes, Gr 5 Trombones). The codes to join the correct Google Classroom will be posted on this site as well as emailed to parents.

I am excited to announce that we will have the pleasure of working with another student teacher this fall. Miss Nicole Murr is a senior at Rutgers University, and is excited to meet and work with the HMS bands!

Fifth Grade Band

To begin the year, students have received new music to place in their binders already at home during their Meet the Teacher session. This music includes warm ups and songs, and have been uploaded to Google Classroom. Everyone is welcome to continue to play music in both our "Tradition of Excellence" and folk song books as well, though our focus this fall with be with the new packets. New ideas will introduced throughout this fall, with the goal of having fun in a creative way!

Below are the specific Google Classroom links and codes for each instrument:

Take care, and I look forward to seeing everyone again soon.

Kind regards,

Ms. Patty Curtis
