Hello, My name is Philip Brannon and I am the Physical Education teacher here at IIS. I am very excited about this 2018-2019 school year having the opportunity to teach so many wonderful students. I look forward to teaching each student about healthy lifestyle choices and encouraging them to become more active each day.
IIS was blessed to receive a $25,000 dollar Project Fit America grant from the Lids Foundation. This grant allowed our school to receive a full curriculum that included cups, outdoor equipment, games, weighted hula hoops and more. Project fit America teaches our students about why being a healthy person is so important. I believe students who live a healthy lifestyle live a more enjoyable and longer life. I'm really excited about having PFA be a part of our school. PFA has a website so go check them out at: http://www.projectfitamerica.org/
Students who would like to be a part of Running Club can join us every Wednesday afternoon from 2:30-3:00 pm in the IIS gym. We encourage all students to participate and improve their endurance.
Golf is now incorporated into our PE class as a result of The First Tee. This program allows kids the opportunity to learn life skills in addition to the basics of golf. This sport is growing in popularity and we are excited for IIS students to participate.
This curriculum brings new and innovative games into our gymnasium. Students will learn about nutrition, physical activity, and the importance of a healthy lifestyle. You can check spark at: http://www.sparkpe.org/
