THE CGS MEDIA CENTER HAS A FIXED-FLEXIBLE PROGRAM.

Our library collection consists of books and materials that are high interest, aligned with the school's curriculum, developmentally appropriate for our school community, diverse and multicultural in scope, correlates with teacher instruction based on the South Carolina Standards, and most of all fun to read!

We are striving to create an environment that encourages a love for reading. It is our goal to introduce students to text that meets and challenges their reading levels, while actively engaging them in the world of literature. We are also committed to being a supplemental source to classroom instruction and transforming our vital program to an information problem solving center by means of implementing new and updated strategies and student's skills.

Ahead of the basic learning skills such as writing, reading and math, this Age of Information needs our students to develop a multitude of complex analytical skills, preparing them for the future. Since the Internet has generated a large volume of information for our students and appears to be the dominant research resource, our Media Center must be the training venue for our students to become Information Literate ; being aware of what is available, how to find it, and when to use it. The Media Arts program intertwines literature, technology resources such as Google Apps for Education and content curriculum associated with each grade level.
