Your Teacher
My name is Mr. Williams, and I am an artist, printmaker, and educator. I grew up in Boone, North Carolina, where I enjoyed skiing and trout fishing. After graduating from UNC-Asheville with a BA in Art and a BA in Multimedia Arts and Sciences, I moved to Europe and spent five years traveling and studying art and architecture.Â
My favorite European places are Florence, Prague, Berlin, and Vienna. After returning to the United States, I moved to Chicago to pursue a Master of Fine Arts in Printmedia from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Following graduation, I stayed in Chicago for 20 years, making art, exhibiting my work, teaching, and traveling. I also earned a Masters in Teaching Arts from Columbia College Chicago.
My wife Merry-Beth and I decided to move to Landrum, South Carolina, to be closer to family. I am excited to be teaching at Landrum High School because I believe in the power of art to transform minds and attitudes. Art education is important for developing critical thinking skills, creative problem-solving, and understanding the world around us. I am also passionate about sharing my love of art with my students and encouraging them to find their own authentic voices. I look forward to getting to know all of you and helping you explore the world of art!
