3. Demonstrate COLLABORATION and establish linkages and networks in inspiring and empowering people in creating programs that provides socioeconomic needs.
4. Possess CREATIVITY that will promote social and cultural transformation of the oppressed yet deserving members of the community through innovations and research works.
5. Strengthen the COMMITTMENT TO ACHIEVE the leadership through active participation of the college and the community.
The SISC COPE is dedicated to improve the quality of life for both youth and adult population of the partner community, Phase 4 of Barangay BF International/CAA in Las Piňas City. The SISC COPE is based on the belief that all people should be granted opportunities to live in a community with a nurturing and caring environment, thus enhancing the institutional values of SISC on 5Cs. That at the end of the COPE program implementation, the 5Cs has been integrated by the students and the residents of the partner community in their daily undertakings (Please see the project COPE evaluation form).
It is the intention of the SISC COPE to assist the residents of the partner community, to:
1. become financially independent by providing them with opportunities, knowledge and skills to earn a living and manage their resources to optimum productive use;
2. be healthy and live in a healthy, hygienic, and sanitary environment by teaching them to develop healthy life practices and providing the residents the opportunity to avail of the free medical and dental check-up, free consultation and medical monitoring for pregnant women, free basic medicines and vitamins for babies, children, and adults, given by the local government of Las Piñas City;
3. develop love for education by assisting the local government and non-governmental institutions in maintaining the opportunity for the in-school and out-of school youth in the partner community in availing the enhancement sessions provided by SISC to the partner community; and
4. become productive, peace-loving citizens by engaging the youth in sports and other productive endeavours; engaging parents in learning how to become responsible parents; and engaging the Barangay officials to serve their constituents to the best of their ability.
It is NOT the intention of SISC COPE to give dole-outs to the residents of the community and ultimately make them dependent to the government, NGOs, or other agencies/organizations. We believe in the adage, “Give a man a fish to eat and he will leave for a day. Teach a man how to fish, and he will live for a lifetime.”
