STEM Olympics

Grades 7-9

You are on a STEM Olympics team. You will learn to build and compete with your teammates against the other teams to win the gold medal! There will be individual and team challenges! Will it be a catapult, a mousetrap-powered car, or some other STEM challenge competition? Just be ready!

Daily Schedule

8:00-8:30

Breakfast

Students who ride the bus will arrive in time to eat breakfast before beginning the day. Parents dropping off students should bring them to the front of their school.

8:30-8:45

Daily Engineering Challenge

Students will collaborate to solve a engineering design and construction problem using their critical thinking skills, teamwork, and creativity. These short challenges will start the day to help students get in an engineering frame of mind.

8:45-10:00

Design and Engineering

You and your team will begin each day by learning about your challenge. Once you have the challenge down, the building begins!

10:00-10:30

Recreation Time

10:30-Noon

Design Process

Your or you and your team work to construct your mechanism for your daily game. You will test then work to improve whatever you have built to challenge the other teams with that day!

Noon-12:30

Lunch

12:30- 1:30

Daily Competition

You've worked to build the best mechanism you can! It's time to challenge your rival teams! You want to win that gold medal, but you will have to be the best!
