Students who ride the bus will arrive in time to eat breakfast before beginning the day. Parents dropping off students should bring them to the front of their school.
Students will collaborate to solve a engineering design and construction problem using their critical thinking skills, teamwork, and creativity. These short challenges will start the day to help students get in an engineering frame of mind.
How does the heart work to pump blood? What happens if it malfunctions? We will learn about how the heart functions and how a heart doctor works to fix it.
Once we learn how the heart functions, it's time to do some hands-on learning. We will build a model of the heart to see how it functions. We might even dissect a heart specimen to get a better look inside of a heart.
We will work to see how we can repair a heart valve that doesn't function correctly. Can you help to save your patient? You must figure out how to construct a heart valve and then test the results of your engineering skills.
