Students in all grades engage in recess on a daily basis. Recess provides opportunities for students to get breaks from the rigor of the academic school day, socialize with peers, and play. Developmentally, play is very important to children as it helps them to develop creativity and imagination; it also helps them to strengthen physically, cognitively, socially, and emotionally.
Student recesses are always supervised, and teachers do watch closely to be sure students are all included in activities. Students need to come to school with the proper clothing to play outside at all times, regardless of weather. We make every effort to have recess outside where children benefit from the fresh air and exercise.
