Communicating with parents and families is a high priority for the faculty and staff at LES. While we have several methods of sharing information, we recognize that communication requires a means for sharing and collaborating.
We encourage parents and guardians to join the Liberty Area Partnership Action Team (LAPAT), which is our parent/teacher organization, and volunteer in a child’s classroom or other places throughout the school community. We also encourage contact when parents and guardians have concerns, questions, and feedback.
We have many avenues to try to assure that our school community stays informed. School-wide methods are listed below, but each teacher or grade-level will have additional modes of communication that will be shared as well.
Parent Square
This communication tool was lunched the Summer of 2022. It allows ease of communication at multiple levels specific to your individual school involvement. To access Parent Square, go to the app store and download the Parent Square app. You will then sign up using the email you provided to the school to link the app to your child's account, which will provide the appropriate access to information.
Our school can be followed on Facebook. Upcoming events, cancellations, and exciting happenings will be posted on these pages. At this time, this is a one-way method of communication. If you have questions about anything you see on Facebook, please contact the school in person or by phone. Look for us on Facebook @LES16930.
Notes Home
Notes are sometimes sent home from the office and more frequently from teachers. Parents/guardians should make sure to check their children’s backpacks daily.
Email/Phone Calls
Using email/phone calls is a great way for parents/guardians to communicate with us. Please keep in mind that teachers’ ability to access these tools is limited during the school day when they are teaching, so it may take a little time for them to return a contact. Please visit the Faculty Page for direct access to emails.
Parent/Teacher Conferences
Formal parent/teacher conferences are scheduled to occur shortly after the conclusion of the first trimester. These are opportunities to sit down with teachers and discuss individual growth and achievement. However, parents are strongly encouraged to meet with teachers whenever necessary.
Sapphire
Sapphire is the Southern Tioga School District’s student data management system. This system allows access to a child’s grades and is another tool to access/share information with teachers. Establishing an account can be done by contacting the school office and then accessing Sapphire.
Once you go to the site, you will need to click on “Community Portal” and then type in your log-in information. Directions for signing up for the Parent Portal of Sapphire are available in the school office.
School Webpage
Our school webpage that is part of the Southern Tioga School District website includes much of the information mentioned above plus a calendar of events.
