We will be stretching our "brain-muscles" this year with exciting and innovative learning experiences. This site will be updated weekly to inform you of important events, spelling words, reminders, resources, and much more. I hope this will be a challenging and exciting year for your second grader!

Classroom Announcements
Week of September 11th - September 15th
Due to the possibility of high winds, SeA will be releasing at 12:00 PM tomorrow. All students should bring a packed lunch tomorrow. Monday's Dowless lunch will be served on Tuesday if you have purchased it for your child. Car Riders will dismiss at 12:00. Please make sure you are at the school to pick up your child. Buses will depart at 11:55 for Sears. Parents whose children ride daycare vans should notify their daycare of the early dismissal. Sea WILL NOT notify the daycare.
- Reading 3D testing will continue this week. I should have reports available to send home by the end of next week.
- Progress Reports go home Tuesday, Sept. 12th. Please contact me if you have questions of concerns.
- AR- I sent a report home regarding your child's AR progress toward his/her goal on Friday as well as parent login information so that you may monitor your child's progress at your convenience.
- Congratulations to Tybee. Our 2nd grade class voted her the Student of the Month for August. Great Job!
What We Are Learning This Week
- Math- We will continue to work on problem solving this week and metal +/- strategies for numbers within 20.
- Reading- We will be continuing to work on answering and asking questions about key ideas and details, text features, and character traits.
- Writing- Narratives, adding hearing and seeing words to writing, punctuation and capitalization
- Social Studies- Hallway Heroes (Anti-Bullying Curriculum)
- Science- "Your Fantastic, Elastic Brain!
Supply List & Educational Resources
FLEXIBLE SEATING
I am so excited to see our 2nd graders use the flexible seating options we received through my Donor's Choose Grant! This was largely funded by our very generous SeA Family. Our class has received stability balls, wobble chairs, stability disks, stools, peanut chairs, a large area rug, and storage for student supplies. We have also received a beautiful IKEA couch and a balloon chair from a private donor. We will be using our beanbag chairs and carpet squares from last year. I believe that these seating options will enhance student engagement. I will continue to have an area with traditional seating.
