Our Mutual Safety, Kindness, & Respect Policy

Our everyday boundaries. At Solace, we step directly into private homes to build spaces of stability. Because we work intimately alongside individuals—often during times of high stress or life changes—our environment must remain physically safe and rooted in mutual kindness.

While Ontario law (Occupational Health and Safety Act) requires us to have a formal policy to protect workers from harm, we view this as a shared, transparent promise that honors the dignity of everyone under your roof.

1. A Sanctuary for All Populations

We are deeply committed to maintaining a safe, accessible, and anti-violent environment. We firmly protect and advocate for the safety of seniors, disabled individuals, neurodivergent folks, and all vulnerable populations. We believe that care spaces must be completely free from financial exploitation, emotional manipulation, physical neglect, or identity-based harm. This standard applies equally to our team, our clients, residents, and any visiting family members.

2. Clear Safety Definitions

To ensure absolute clarity across all projects, we maintain a zero-tolerance baseline for the following behaviors:

Workplace Harassment: Any unwelcome comment, joke, behavior, or slurring related to race, ancestry, disability, age, sex, gender identity, or neurodivergence that creates an intimidating or uncomfortable environment.

Workplace Violence: The exercise, attempt, or explicit threat of physical force that causes—or could cause—physical injury or intense psychological distress to a worker.

3. Our Right to Pause & Safe Exit

If a situation, environment, or conversation on-site becomes volatile, hostile, or abusive, we will not argue or attempt to absorb that energy. This policy empowers us to immediately pause the session, pack up our tools, and safely exit the premises.

If we must leave a home early due to safety concerns, the session will be concluded under a "For-Cause" safety exception. Pre-paid fees for that committed time block remain non-refundable to cover our dedicated scheduling , and our team will never be penalized for an incomplete layout.

4. Reporting, Investigation, & Annual Review

We treat safety concerns with immediate, absolute seriousness.

Reporting: If a client, worker, or caregiver feels that this policy has been breached by anyone present during a session, it should be reported immediately to hello@solacespaces.ca. For consumer safety or service disputes that cannot be resolved through our direct good-faith consultation or professional mediation in Toronto, clients maintain the right to file a formal report with Consumer Protection Ontario at ontario.ca/consumerprotection

Our Promise: To keep our standards current with Ontario safety legislation and community care best practices, this entire document is formally reviewed and re-signed by our leadership annually.
