Plenary Session - Networking for Smart Agriculture

Aim of the Session

  • Gathering the key stakeholders to generate a discussion to integrate the functional groups in the ICT and networking sector to expedite the development of ICT based services in agriculture.
  • Exploring the avenues to establish or rejuvenate a steering committee on networking and ICT in agriculture
  • Prepare a technical report/ policy document to guide the future pathway
  • Standardization and publishing of networking protocols
  • Identify the needs and the opportunities in the implementation of ICT solutions in the agriculture sector (interfaces, real needs, accessibility etc.)
  • Introduction of a networking portal as a model for the future developments
  • Continued monitoring of the progress of the proposed activities through future sessions of ISAE

The Session

Prior to the session

  • Interested contributors are given an opportunity to submit a synopsis of their ideas, experiences and views to ISAE 2019
  • ISAE publication committee will review the content
  • Qualified submissions will be published in the proceedings which will be printed and distributed at the venue
  • A summary of the contents of the submissions will be prepared by the symposium organizing committee

During the Session (planned activities and are subjected to change)

  • Keynote address by a prominent personality in a related field
  • Presentation of the summary of the submissions by a qualified person who will be chairing the session
  • Launch of the prototype of a web based networking platform as the foundation for the discussion
  • Commence the open discussion
    • Identify the barriers and opportunities
    • Discuss the way forward
    • Explore possible collaborations ...
  • Documentation of the discussion

After the Session

  • Compile the documented information to a printed report
  • Distribute among the stakeholders
