Van Dat Tuong is an assistant professor at the School of Information and Communications Technology - Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST), Hanoi, Vietnam. Prior to joining HUST, he was a lecturer with the Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology in 2025, a principal engineer with the Viettel High Technology Industries Corporation from 2024 to 2025, and a senior professional with the Samsung Display Vietnam from 2023 to 2024. He was also a lead engineer with the Samsung Vietnam Mobile R&D Center - Samsung Electronics Vietnam from 2012 to 2018.

He received the B.S. degree in mechatronics from HUST in 2012, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in system software and big data from Chung-Ang University (CAU), Seoul, South Korea, in 2021 and 2025, respectively. He has reviewed research works for IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications, IEEE Wireless Communications Letters, IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics, IEEE Internet of Things Journal, IEEE Transactions on Green Communications and Networking, IEEE System Journal, etc.

He was awarded the CAU Alumni Award for Excellent PhD Dissertation in 2025, the CAU Excellence in Research Award in 2024, the Best Paper Awards at the 2023 ICIT and 2024 ICOIN conferences, the CAU Young Scientist Scholarship Award in 2021-2023, the Global Korea Scholarship Award from the Korean government in 2018-2021, the Samsung Best Employee Award in 2014, and the Scientific Research Award for HUST students in 2009 and 2012.

His current research interests include:

• wireless communications and networks,

• machine learning and realtime optimization,

• privacy and security,

• autonomous robotic (robotaxi, humanoid, quadruped, AGV, UAV/drones),

• climate change, air quality, smart traffic, healthcare, and disaster management.
