About the Class:
Mission. The mission of Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFJROTC) is to “Develop citizens of character dedicated to serving their nation and community.”
Goal. The goal of the program is to instill in high school students the values of citizenship, service to the United States, personal responsibility, and a sense of accomplishment.
Objectives.
Develop an appreciation for the basic elements and requirements for national security
Respect and understand the need for constituted authority in a democratic society
Develop a sense of patriotism and an understanding of citizen’s personal obligation to contribute toward national security
Acquire a broad based knowledge of the aerospace age and fundamental aerospace doctrine
Instill an interest in completing high school and pursuing higher educational goals
Develop an interest in the Air Force as a possible career
NOTE: JROTC programs are citizenship programs. They are NOT military recruiting programs and there is never any obligation to join the military.

Weekly Overview
1. Fundraiser ended on 23 Dec, we raised $7484.30. Air base breakdown:
a. Honor – $3,011
b. Fortitude - $2,920
c. Allegiance - $2,095
d. Tenacity - $1,580

2. Air Force Inspection Preparation
a. 7 & 9 Jan (Wed and Fri), AS-2 30 command drill sequence practice for the following cadets:
1. A. McGowan
2. L. Price
3. C. McGowan
4. Marquette
5. Whitby
6. Biggs
7. Acevedo
8. Trzaskus
9. E. Johnson
10. Larkin
11. Alternates: Benton and Borkholder
b. Tues and Thurs, briefing practice for cadets selected to give a briefing
c. 12 Jan, Monday, cadet mass formation practice in the Natatorium at 08:00 am
d. 26 Jan, Monday, cadet mass formation in uniform in the Aux gym at 08:00 am
3. Sadaf Nemat has been named the Corps Director of Staff, taking over that role from Ethan Pritchard at the end of Jan.
4. 1 Feb, Sun, Polar Plunge at Rehoboth Beach at 1:00 p.m. Leaving from SHS, time TBD. We have reserved two 10-pax vans; 15 cadets have expressed interest. No information on hoodies currently. Need a POC for the event to collect participant names, donations, and registrations.
5. Washington D.C. interest form posted in GC. Depending on interest, it will be either 2 April or 23 April due to bus availability. Currently, the plan would be to leave immediately after school begins (approx. 07:45am). No uniforms will be worn. We plan to provide $20 in food, and the field trip will be free for cadets. We will determine groups and group sizes when we have a good headcount, targeting 2 weeks out from the trip.
a. We will need chaperones for the trip. The number will depend on how many cadets there are.
6. Curriculum:
a. AS1: Drill and AS, Chapter 1: Exploring Flight
b. AS2: Continue Chapter 2, Lesson 2: Speaking Effectively
c. AS3: Continue Chapter 3, Lesson 1: Researching Careers
d. AS4: Read Chapter 4, Lesson 1: Improving Your Decision Making
