Hello! I come from a long line of teachers, and it seemed I was destined to join the "family business" since I was a kid! I am a native San Diegan and graduated from Mira Mesa High School. I attended the University of California at Santa Cruz where I majored in American Studies. Go Banana Slugs! I then returned to my hometown of San Diego to receive my teaching credential through National University. I continued on and earned a Master of Education degree specializing in Best Practices. This is my 18th year teaching in San Marcos Unified and my 14th year as a San Elijo Eagle. I love teaching here! My time in this district has given me many opportunities to work with amazing students, families, and faculty. I am very excited for a wonderful fifth grade year!
My wife, Becca, and I have been married for 14 years. We met when we were both teaching at Richland Elementary. I even enlisted the aid of several of our mutual students to help me propose during a very memorable Flag Salute! We live in San Marcos and keep ourselves busy with home improvement projects year round!
I have two daughters - Lorelei (11) and Leah (6). Lorelei is in 6th grade at Woodland Park Middle School. Leah is a first grader at Twin Oaks Elementary where she spends half of the day learning in Spanish. They are two bundles of energy, and their dance and gymnastics schedules keep us all busy throughout the week.
When not at one of the girls' dance activities, we enjoy taking family trips to Disneyland, SeaWorld, the zoo and Safari Park, and the beach. Our 14-year-old lab-shepherd-mix especially likes when we take him along! We love the Padres, and we are Chargers-turned-Vikings fans as both my wife and I have Minnesota roots. Skol!
