About me
Hello! My name is Kate Pummer, and I am very excited to be part of the St. Mary School community. This is my third year working at SMS. Last year, I taught Art and served as a fourth-grade aide. This year, I am grateful for the opportunity to step into new roles as the 7th grade homeroom teacher, teaching Math for grades 5–8 and Reading for 7th grade. I look forward to guiding our middle school students as they grow in both knowledge and character.
I graduated from Moravian College with a Bachelor of Arts degree. My career began as a counselor in an alternative school, where I supported students with diverse learning needs. In addition to this work, I have always had a passion for math and tutored the subject throughout high school and college. Over the years, I also worked evenings at Penn Foundation before becoming a stay-at-home mom for several years. Currently, I am continuing my own education at Immaculata University, where I am pursuing a master’s degree in education.
Family life is very important to me. My husband and I have three boys, all of whom attend SMS. We are huge Phillies fans and love cheering on the team together. I also enjoy coaching my boys in different sports and spending time outdoors with my family. Some of our favorite activities include taking walks, playing games, having movie nights, visiting Hershey Park, and traveling.
I am truly excited for this school year and blessed to be working with such wonderful students and families. I look forward to sharing my love of learning, especially in math and reading, and helping students discover their own strengths and gifts.
