7th Grade Homeroom

About me

Hello! My name is Kate Pummer, and I am very excited to be part of the St. Mary School community. This is my fourth year at SMS. Last year was my first year as the 7th grade homeroom teacher, teaching Math for grades 5–8 and Reading for 7th grade. I am excited to continue in these roles for a second year and look forward to another wonderful year of learning and growth with my students.

I graduated from Moravian College with a Bachelor of Arts degree. My career began as a counselor in an alternative school, where I supported students with diverse learning needs. I have always had a passion for mathematics and tutored students throughout high school and college. I also worked evenings at Penn Foundation before becoming a stay-at-home mom for several years. I am currently pursuing my master's degree in education at Immaculata University and enjoy learning new strategies that help me better support my students.

Family is at the center of my life. My husband and I have three boys, all of whom attend St. Mary School. We are huge Phillies fans and love cheering on the team together. I also enjoy coaching my boys in different sports and spending time outdoors with my family. Some of our favorite activities include taking walks, playing board games, having movie nights, visiting Hersheypark, and traveling together.

I am truly excited for the school year ahead and feel blessed to be part of such a wonderful school community. I look forward to sharing my love of learning especially in math and reading and helping each student discover their strengths, build confidence, and grow academically, spiritually, and personally. I can't wait for another fantastic year together!
