Spring Sports:

BASEBALL

Description: Our baseball team consists of of Varsity, Junior Varsity, C-Team and D-Team. We encourage, and have high expectations that potential players enroll in our weightlifting courses (schedule permitting) and also attend before school conditioning opportunities in the offseason. Summer conditioning and camps are also available for a small fee.

Requirements: All prospective student-athletes must have their paperwork turned into the athletic office prior to the first practice.

Practices and Competitions: Practice is daily, Monday-Friday (with some Saturday practice and possible morning practice for pitchers and catchers or when needed due to weather conditions). Practices are normally after school, 3:00 p.m., unless otherwise designated. Specific practice times are set by coaches at various levels of the program. Varsity games are normally played on Tuesday and Thursday, with some exceptions., Underclass games will be played on various days throughout the week. Flexibility due to the potential of inclement weather is always a distinct possibility.

GOLF--BOYS

Coach: Jim Bamburg

Description: In recent past SMNW has maintained a Varsity and Junior Varsity level golf teams. The golf team competes against local and state schools at area courses. The varsity has State Competition at the end of the season, which they must qualify for as a team and/or individuals.

Requirements: All prospective student-athletes must have their paperwork turned into the athletic office prior to the first practice.

Practices and Competitions: The season lasts from March thru May. Practice times are after school at local courses. The schedule times and locations are set by the coach prior to the start of the season.

SOCCER-GIRLS

Description: Boys soccer team consists of of Varsity, Junior Varsity and C-Teams. These teams compete in a 16 game regular season schedule. We encourage, and have high expectations that potential players enroll in our weightlifting courses (schedule permitting). Summer conditioning and camps are also available for a small fee.

C Team games are normally the day of or day prior to Varsity/Junior Varsity competition.

SWIMMING & DIVING - Girls

Description: Our swim and dive team consists of a Varsity and Junior Varsity. Tryouts are in end of February for the spring season. High expectations will strongly encourage student-athletes to do dry land work and good weight room and conditioning work to prepare for the rigors of the sport.

Requirements: All prospective student-athletes must have their paperwork turned into the athletic office prior to the first practice, and come with a positive work ethic.

Practices & Competitions: Practices are scheduled daily after school (Monday-Saturday) unless otherwise noted by the head coach. Competitions will occur both during the week and on Saturday.


TENNIS-GIRLS

Description: SMNW has a Varsity and Junior Varsity level teams. The tennis team competes against local and state schools. The varsity has State Competition at the end of the season, which they must qualify for as a team and/or individuals.

Practices and Competitions: The season lasts from end of February thru Mid May. Practice times are after school on site.


TRACK & FIELD

Description: SMNW Track & Field program has a Varsity and Junior Varsity level teams. The program is open to all male and female student-athletes. The varsity has State Competition at the end of the season, which they must qualify for as a team and/or individuals.

Requirements: All prospective student-athletes must have their paperwork turned into the athletic office prior to the first practice. All freshmen-senior men and women are eligible to participate per KSHSAA and SMSD guidelines and expectations.

Practices and Competitions: The season lasts from end of February thru end of May. Practice times are after school on site.
