Class overview
The K–2 Physical Education program provides students with a strong foundation in fundamental movement skills while fostering a positive attitude toward lifelong physical activity. Through engaging, age-appropriate activities, students develop essential locomotor, non-locomotor, and manipulative skills such as running, jumping, balancing, throwing, catching, kicking, and striking.
In addition to physical skill development, the program emphasizes teamwork, cooperation, communication, and sportsmanship. Students learn to work collaboratively with peers, follow directions, respect others, and demonstrate responsible behavior in a variety of individual, partner, and small-group activities.
As students participate in introductory team games and modified sports, they begin to understand basic game strategies and concepts, including spatial awareness, offensive and defensive positioning, sharing responsibilities, and making simple decisions during play. These experiences help build confidence, problem-solving abilities, and an appreciation for fair play while preparing students for more advanced physical education experiences in future grades.
The K–2 Physical Education curriculum is designed to create a safe, inclusive, and enjoyable learning environment where every student can develop physical competence, social skills, and healthy habits that support lifelong wellness.
About me
With 25 years of experience in education, I am passionate about creating a positive and engaging learning environment where students can develop confidence, teamwork, and a lifelong appreciation for physical activity. As a Physical Education teacher, I strive to help every child build fundamental movement skills, demonstrate good sportsmanship, and discover the value of living a healthy, active lifestyle.
Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family. I have been married to my wife Mia for 20 years, and we are proud parents of two daughters. Our oldest daughter, Mallie, is 16 and an active cheerleader, while our youngest, Harper, is 12 and enjoys both cheerleading and competitive dance. My family keeps me active and continually reminds me of the importance of encouraging young people to pursue their passions with dedication and enthusiasm.
