Class overview

Inclusion English I, II, and III are grade-level English courses in which students receive instruction in the Tennessee English Language Arts standards within the general education classroom. A special education teacher and general education teacher work collaboratively to provide accommodations, differentiated instruction, additional support, and targeted assistance based on each student’s IEP. Students complete the same core curriculum and work toward the same grade-level standards as their peers while receiving the support needed to access instruction and demonstrate learning.

Tier English Intervention is a targeted support class designed to address individual reading skill deficits rather than focus on grade-level English standards. Instruction is based on student data and primarily focuses on improving reading comprehension, fluency, vocabulary, and foundational reading skills as needed. Students receive explicit, structured instruction, guided practice, and regular progress monitoring to help strengthen reading skills and increase independence across all academic subjects. I use the Readworks Curriculum to provide intervention. ReadWorks provides individualized, evidence-based reading instruction using engaging, age-appropriate texts to strengthen vocabulary, fluency, and reading comprehension skills.
