I would like to take the opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Noelle Wojnar and I am honored to be your child’s English Language Arts teacher! I graduated from Hilbert College in 2012 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. I went on to earn my Master of Science degree in Adolescent Education, English from Medaille College in 2013. I have five years of teaching experience, ranging from long-term substitute positions (West Seneca Central School District and Iroquois Central School District), tutoring, and home instruction. I have taught college, high school, and middle school students. This will be my third year with St. Mary's Elementary. I am thrilled to be a part of the community and cannot wait to work with you and your son or daughter!
As an ELA teacher, I, of course, love to read and write! I have many favorite books and am always willing to make a recommendation. The last novel I read was: “On Writing" by Stephen King which would be a great read for anyone who wants to become a better author (or just in general loves Stephen King). For our curriculum this year, your son/daughter will be reading poems, articles, short stories, and novels (fiction and nonfiction). My plan is to incorporate a balanced mix of fun projects, quizzes, and essays as a final assessment to my units. I plan on using my skills as an ELA teacher and my love of reading and writing to aid students in publishing a collected work of their short stories.
I believe that communication is the key to a great parent-teacher relationship. I encourage you to contact me if you have any questions or concerns at any time - my door is always open! You can send me a note, email me at firstname.lastname@example.org or call me at (683-2112 ext. 215). I will also do my part by updating my website on what we have been working on in class. I will also use Remind throughout the year for any upcoming projects/quizzes/tests. I strongly encourage each and every student to join my Google Classroom - everything we do in class will be uploaded as a downloadable file. If you are absent, or, know you are going on vacation, you are responsible for making up any work you missed, classwork included. Students can register for this via a cell phone or email. For individual concerns, I will contact you by phone or email you (if an email address is provided).
I am looking forward to working with you and your child in reaching his or her full potential. We will have many wonderful experiences and opportunities to learn and grow in the days ahead!
