Novel Project (inspired by Long Way Down)

"the descent"

the elevator hums, 

a cage of steel and silence. 

seven floors, each one a memory, 

each one a ghost.

shawn's face fades too soon,

his laugh swallowed

by the echo of a bullet.

the rules are clear --

don't cry, don't snitch,

get revenge.

but they feel heavier 

with each step down

buck, dani, uncle mark,

their voices press against the walls,

cracking the foundation.

"do you really know the weight 

of a trigger?"

the question lingers.

the last floor waits,

but so does the truth--

a loaded gun

is never just a weapon.
