AUDIO Troubleshooting
Here are a few ways to troubleshoot this issue:
Ensure the Minimum Requirements are met.
Ensure the settings of the device are properly configured
Change listening hardware like headphones or speakers to something different
Change browsers or devices
Ensure no other audio output is being used on the device
If these steps do not result in a better audio experience, you can attempt to turn off the accelerator in the Google browser settings by following the steps below to see if that will help.
Type chrome://flags (chrome://flags/) in the Chrome browser's address line and press Enter.
Press CTRL+F and type hardware in the search box that appears.
Look for the Hardware-accelerated video decode option.
Select Disable, and click RELAUNCH NOW in the lower-right corner.
Some additional settings that you can try to adjust on a Chromebook, with a Chrome Operating System (OS):
*Note: These directions will NOT work for Windows Operating Systems
1. In Chrome browser, click in the top right corner, the three vertical dots
2. Go to Settings
3. In the search box, type "Accessibility"
4. Select the option of "Manage Accessibility Features"
5. Scroll down to the section of "Audio and Captions"
6. Disable the option of "Play the same audio through all speakers (Mono Audio)
If the videos still result in distorted or low/silent audio, please review how to see the transcripts or closed captions. On page 5 of this student guide, Step 4, it shows how a student can also use the transcripts available in the courses.
