The American Physical Society's Panel on Public Affairs asked the same question in a survey of 6,000 STEM majors across the US.
Nearly 50% of physics majors had some level of interest in teaching. How do we reconcile that with the shortage of physics teachers? Again, research indicates that it is partly because people don't have all the facts when they make career decisions. Let's look at some areas of concerns when people think about teaching careers.
